Percentages
I'm completely confused about percentages. How would you make a fraction into a percentage. For example; 70/180.. what is that into a percntage (How do you make it into a percentage).
And, if a car costs 12,000 and you needed to put on the VAT of 17.5% how much would it cost? V confusing for me....

For the second one, divide the percentage by 100 (to give 0.175) and then multiply this by 12,000 to give the VAT which you must then add on to the 12,000.
It is easier just to multiply 12,000 by 1.175 to get the final figure but you may not understand why you are doing this

Hi pb100191
percentage % means 'out of every hundred' that's why you devide/multiply by 100.
to find the % of a fraction for example 70/180 you basicly want to to find X in (70/180 = X/100)
X = 70/180 multiply by 100)
