What about a TV/DVD/Satellite remote that's easy to work and does actually work.

My mum's 78 and has real difficulty remembering which is which. We bought her a universal one, but it doesn't do the job very well and is just as difficult for her to use.

Mobile phones are also a problem. They have tiny buttons and tiny text and are very difficult for the elderly (and some no so elderly) to use.
are you inventing?

Have tried to cut raw meat/onion/garlic/vegs into smaller pieces without slicing fingers- no luck;( A plastic gadget with grip to fit in fingers would be v.helpful.
Something that will grip and twist to get stiff lids off jars, but combines useful add-ons like a bottle opener and a can opener (I just want it all you see).
The same device adaptable to grasp and turn ordinary sink taps on and off easily.
A 5-section bin unit for a kitchen to allow sorting compost, paper, plastic, glass and non-recyclable kitchen waste, that looks desirable, fits under a counter, is easily cleaned.
A foldaway dining table and chairs set that is actually comfortable to use and sit at, as opposed to the many designs that currently exist and are hideously uncomfortable.
A spray bottle (like one for kitchen cleaner) that doesn't start to be uncomfortable in your hand after about 5 sprays
