why should I work

Why should I work when if I don't I get all my rent paid council tax paid and £120 every two weeks ,

But if I work for min wage full time I would only end up with £30 a week for my self which ain't anoth to live on

I'm also starting college in September and if I don't work I will have it all paid for me but if I'm working there would be no chance off me going to college and trying to make a better life for me ,

BEFORE YOU ALL START GOING MAD I'M JUST SAYING THIS TO SHOW THAT FOR SOME A LIFE ON BENITFITS IS THE ONLY CHOICE

it may be an question that gets people emotionally involved, but it is absolutely true, why should people go to work just so that they can afford to pay their bills? I do it and it's driving me to distraction! I can't remember when my salary lasted me the whole 31 days.

I think the point she was trying to make initially was that if she worked she would be unable to go to college and better herself, wheras if she is unemployed, because the govt want the unemployment figures down, there is lots of free help for her to go to college /uni etc.

Im in the final 6months of nursing at uni, and i work too....when im on clinical placements i work 55hrs a week... Plus essays and exams....you wont know whats hit you and the minute you slack, you are out...my class has at least halved x

katies choice ot go on the dole is not life choice - her question is not a defiant sneer by someone proud to be a scrounger...so all the people harping on about her ending up miserable and alone and skint etcetc should learn to read
ist only going to be for a few months...

she stated clearly she is going on a course...and any job she gets is just slave labour to fill the gap and wont help her career

its a means to an end...she can get a course by being on it, she cant without - why does breaking your back being a skivvy for buttons and being skint equate to self esteem?

she may as well sign on for a few months and use the time to get some early studying in for your course - or even do some volunteer work in a nursing home in order to get some on-the-job experience
