My employer states that if you are well enough to log onto facebook then you are well enough to use the computer at work. Some of my colleagues have even been disciplined for the automatic posts that have been posted onto their wall by applications when they are ill and they haven't logged on. I Believe that my supervisor was trying to catch me out yesterday morning as I am off with abdominal pain (appendix) and she started a game with me the day after a first called in sick i still haven't responded to her request as I believe she will then use this against me, do you think this is also the case? I don't think it is right that employers can use a social media site to discipline you as this has nothing to do with them. I have been off ill for only 5 days today and all I can do is browse the news, watch daytime tv ( seems like Jeremy Kyle is the only thing on now a days, which I am not prepared to watch!) I cant even play facebook games and even most of the games on my phone too as the majority of them all connect via facebook and start posting on your wall, you cant stop them unless you don't want to play the game any more. I suppose what i was saying before about my employer saying "if your well enough to be on a computer then you are well enough to be at work and use their computers" is true however if I was to go to work on Monday and my pain gets bad again and I then go home that counts as a second account of sickness and if we get 3 counts of sickness within a 6 month period they then discipline us which is why i don't want to risk going back yet, I would rather be in pain in the comfort in my own home and if my appendix was to turn into appendicitis I would need to call 999 which I would prefer to also do at home so that I didn't have the whole call centre with 80 staff members all pointing their attention to me and watch me put into the back of an ambulance. I have just realised I am rambling on now which is due to the boredom of rubbish daytime tv and being restricted to what I can do!
