Just wondering are there really two types of person, in terms of being an early waking person known as a morning person? Compared to someone who hates waking up early like myself, and prefers to stay up late, and wake up late?

Is it in someone's genes or dna?

Or is it how we were raised as children?

I personally don't think the answer is that easy as my Mum had a nightmare every morning to try and get me up for breakfast and school in the mornings.

And I still hate waking up even now at 55 years old.

Nothing has changed even though I have done shift work all my life waking at 6am and working night shifts, I still prefer working night shifts.

Is this really all in our blood?

I used to stay up til the morning hours and then sleep in for as long as could get away with. Now, I'm happy going to bed at 9.30 pm.

My mum used to wake me up on schooldays with a cup of coffee at 7.30 am. I think I'm adaptable, from Buenchico's link.

I'm a night owl, as was my Dad. When I was a teenager I had an evening job after school, and I went on to spend my whole working life working evenings and some weekends.

Now I'm retired I wake naturally around 9am and find it a challenge to be anyway before 10!

I'm definitely a night owl.

If, say, I had a really important interview for something at 9am, I'd stay up all night, so that I'd be feeling fresh at around what most people think of as breakfast-time.

If I went to bed the night before, and then got up to go to that interview, I'd be feeling totally groggy when I got there.

Owls and larks, definitely ...
