i work in an office where the md is hindu and he employs a muslim.the md is almost daily complaining about the muslim beliefs,eg praying so many times a day and openly verbally abusing various aspects of the muslim culture in my presence. i am english however am offended by what i am hearing as i should not have to listen to this in the workplace.i have complained to the md twice by email asking him to stop, however the office culture is such he has 2 other people on his side who join in this verbal bullying.is there anything else i could do to stop this ? ido not want to lose my job over this, when i have complained in the past there is no response at all.

I am only assuming but the Hindu is probably Indian and the Muslim Pakistani. This is not racism but deeply rooted hatred for eachothers countries,, as they were once one united. Almost the same way as you would not call Protestants vrs Catholics in Northern Ireland a racist issue.

However, legally I suppose it does amount to racial (or religious) discrimination. The legislation states that ANYBODY, i.e you can find the behaviour racist and it need not be the actual "victim" intended as such.

There is loads you can do. However, do you really want to? You can not be sacked for expressing concern but it will affect your future. Do you really want to work under the atmosphere of knowing you have reported your boss? Bang goes any cushy numbers and kiss goodbye to a reference. Also remember, the worst case scenarion, the MD can now actually go to prison.

My advice would be let it go.

If I sound like your MD, then I am sorry. But muslims and their evil ways do not deserve respect in the work place. Just how much do they cost the economy re their enormous amount of prayer time?

If you say anything YOU will probably be accused of racism against the hindu.
"This is not racism but deeply rooted hatred for each others countries" if that is not racism then what is? As for Mulims taking time to pray is that any different from what smokers do when they keep having breaks? How much time do they waste?

The Commission for Racial Equality was replaced by the Commission for Equality and Human Rights and their site is here if you want to see what all they can do

joe the lion the muslim is from bangladesh and the hindu is indian.your reference to rape was uncalled for in these circumstances, especially bringing my daughter into it.
the point i am making is this - i am not taking sides at all.
the md has employed the muslim worker for 10 years and from day 1 he has been praying,so he knew what was happening.i feel strongly that he should accept this facet of his faith by now but it is used as a tool to put him down and pour scorn on other aspects of his faith.it is intolerance of someone elses beliefs which is unacceptable, you don't have to go along with others views, however you have to tolerate others
Rachels dad as you may not be aware, Bangladesh was part of Pakistan (Bengal) claiming independance from Pakistan in the early 70's and the same hatred from India is the same as for Pakistan.

I apologise if you took offence and the reference to your daughter was merely me trying to make a point. I now realise it may have been insensitive.

However, if you put muslim and rape in to google, you will know exactly where I am coming from.

I am all for tolerance, but I find it hard to tolerate a whole section of people who accept rape of western women in the name of allah. The facts are there in the Koran. The Arabs wrote it not me!!!

Why would you put 'musim and rape' into google?

Please quote the part of the koran that advocated raping western woman, i find it interesting.
how many times have you heard people in a bar or workplace call eachother names ie the joks will have a go at me being welsh and in return i do the same , it is mostly fun. its time people stopped putting this race thing in other peoles faces, just because someone is muslim it doesnt make them bad or a rapist, and saying that should be counted as racist. look at the person and not their belifes and if you dont like them then stay away and stop moaning. i know lots of muslims pakistani,s indians and they are all good people, i also know a lot of white and blacks and find the ratio between them disturbing. there are many good and many bad people in this world and they are not all muslim. look at mugabe for instance. this is in reply to the Q and the A FROM THE LION.
