advise on working from home

i am looking to work from home but don't know where to start.  most things i look at ask for money to get a start up kit or have some other catch.  has anyone got any advise on where i can find a good "work from home" site.

I'm a librarian and get asked this question a lot! There is no website or directory that lists homeworking opportunities as far as I am aware. The is a homeworking association which publishes leaflets and has an advice line so it might be worth contacting them. http://www.homeworking.gn.apc.org/

I had a friend who used to do homeworking and the company she worked for recruited workers through their existing staff. So you had to be referred by an existing member of staff before they'd even consider you.
