I am self employed and things are quiet at the moment.

I have designed myself a flyer poster(A4 size) on the pc. Is the idea of these flyers to send them by post to various places or to hand deliver them ?

I am printing about 50 or more so hand delivering will be time consuming i'm thinking.

Not sure of the best way to keep them from going straight into the bin.

Thanks in advance.

50 will not even begin to think about scratching the surface, 98% of flyers get binned without even being read of the ones that are read 5% positive response is considered very good so do the arithmetic. If you put out 1000 you'll get 20 read and 1 response!. The best way to get them distributed is with people already delivering things anyway, ie royal mail, paper shops etc. It's a much bigger undertaking than it forst appears.

i'm just starting out with my business and have designed leaflets myself too that I willbe distributing insode local papers and magazines. I've always wanted to know what types of ad people respond to the most ie leaflets in newspapers, flyers through the door or an ad on page. Guess this is why they call this test marketing.

Let me know how you get on and what business you in?

I'm in the courier business , working freelance for various courier firms as and when , but trying to get my own customers. Things are not too good at the moment so  the flyer idea is my next step, if things pick up ,or if not i might have to bail out. Time will tell.

Hiya,

I've always thought that local distribution via the newspapers are a good way - it saves you the leg work and gets you the maximum exposure - ala 'lifelearner'.  But, I'll be the first to moan at the amount of unwanted advertising stuff crammed into newspapers...

Good Luck.

what about putting an ad in your local paper? It shouldnt cost too much (in my local paper it is 40).
