Help on careers

hi i am currently in a manufacturing job and as we all know this does not pay well and that it is a dying trade.  i have two options training... well thats out the question cos i have a mortgage and kids to support or find a company that will train me as i go. e.g apprentice,trainee etc.....  does anyone know of any places in the west midlands area, eg dudley,  w-ton that do such things... i really need a job change to bring in more money!!!! please help
