Check out this site for what you are and aren't allowed to do.
Everything Sammy Snake pointed out is there to protect you. If it's not long til you're 16, why don't you enjoy being a kid for a while! If you start work at 16, you're going to be working for probably another 60 years of your life. May as well enjoy the time off now!!!!
Oh - and please please print off information from the link Sammy Snake gave you. Also remember that there is no minimum wage until you're 18, so you are likely to be given very little money for your time. Please seriously think whether it's worth 20 to give up your ENTIRE Saturday.
P.S., If you work for a catering agency (they'll help you learn how to be a waitress), you can probably earn much better money, and try to make tips too. I was able to earn 4.50/hr when I was 16 this way!
Laura it depends on where you live. Catering agencies won't take you on before 16 - well, not likely. It was more an idea for a quick wage rise when your birthday comes around. Just look them up in the phone book under "employment" or "jobs".
I realise that being a kid costs money. I just ask you to consider whether it's worth losing an hour of your day, that could be spent chatting with mates, earning 2.50 just to buy a tiny bit of phone credit or save up for 4 weeks to get a CD.
I realise that's your call - but please please consider selling some of your old stuff first. It's amazing how much you could make. Or - instead of getting a job job, why don't you offer to do odd jobs for neighbours. Washing cars for 5 a time etc. More fun and less stressy - and better paid!!!
