Health And Safety Jobs
6 Answers
Im currently in college studying manufacturing engineering and am getting to the point where I need to choose a path to go down. I have decided that I would like to come some sort of health and safety inspector/surveyor. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience in the area and could give me some background on what I may be doing, whether work is easy to find and so on.
Any information is appreciated

hi, my husband is a H+s he says: if you want to do this, they like people to have a safety qualification; you may want to do a NEBOSH certificate. what you are studying will help, but you need the certificate as a minimum usually. the other obvious thing is to join IOSH as an associate member, you'll get access to their reference library and forum, where people post jobs. that's how he got hos forst job. he is in construction H+S and works on major civil engineering projects

thanks, but i need the luck i reckon - already lots of shouting and swearing about the blasted dissertation. There are plenty of companies who do the NEBOSH certificate in a two week block (for a price of course) as far as i can tell it's pretty much common sense anyway.
Why don't you contact an agency that specialise in h and s jobs eg "principal people" or "the health and safety partnership" to get a feel as to what kind of jobs are out there, and what quals are needed?
