Do You Miss The Doorstep Carol Singers

Just realised that I have not had one carol singer this year.It was one of the highlights of my Christmas hearing the children sing
And telling what Santa was going to bring them. It can't be a safety issue because they always had an adult waiting at the gate for them. Does anyone else miss them and the passing of so many traditions?

Our local has just ahd six trumpeters leading 90 folk (all generations), mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies laid on......

The last lot we had was about two years ago bunch of pissed up lads about 14-15 sang "we wish you a merry Christmas" one line only and held their tin out.I replied I'd give them £20 if they could sing a full verse otherwise go away.Needless to say they went and I kept my money

We had a spurt of them about beginning of December but none since
I gave the first lot something but then had no change after that

Aw well I must be getting very nostalgic in my old age.Time was when they came around without supervision and you could invite them into the house to sing so that they would'nt get cold.
Things ain't what they used to be.
