I was just looking at the graduate statistics and a huge percentage of graduate jobs are located either in London or in the surrounding areas of South-East England? Is there a political reasoning behind that or it is solely because since time and memorial London has been closer to European markets??

Because the financial activity in the City of London leads the rest of the country's economy.

The concentration of almost all jobs in London and the South-East (not just graduate jobs) is due to three things; firstly, money, secondly, money, and last, but by no means least, money.
