Tribute Acts

They've never appealed to me, I see them as a bit 'Stars in their Eyes' and I don't see why people should make money off the back of artists who have made it. I've never seen a tribute act but now a friend wants me to go and see a tribute to Queen.

Should I put my prejudice aside and go?

Must admit that tribute acts don't appeal to me either.

it's going to be kind of artificial: the Beatles could be spontaneous on stage; but a Beatles tribute band wouldn't be because their business is only in replicating what the Beatles did do.

On the other hand, these acts mostly spring up when the originals are no longer playing; so a tribute band may be the only chance you ever get to see the music performed live.

So over to you - how much did you love Queen, how much did you admire their music, how much do you want to see someone else playing it?

When you say queen, chances are its Freddie only, and those I've seen made me cringe.

It's a night out. The group are still doing their own playing/performing. So they play the compositions of others; many do. Just don't expect it to be as good as your heroes would be. Then if it is fairly good, that's a bonus.

I'm not a big Rolling Stones fan but went to see the counterfeit stones a few years back and thoroughly enjoyed the show. I would suggest that if you do go, enjoy it (or not) for the show it is and not for how close to the
original is the imitation. You don't say which tribute it is but there are some good entertainers among them.

I'm a huge fan of Queen so I'm wary, but I'll try and keep an open mind and give it a go. It's only a few quid and few hours of my life, I suppose.

I find these acts a bit daft, but I did go and see the Bootleg Beatles once and really enjoyed it. There was alot of humor in it.

Having endured what seems like a million ABBA tribute bands, I can't say I'd EVER want to do it again. They're not my cup of Earl Grey. I've never been a fan of any kind of copy cat act.
As for the one you're talking about... so many people try to copy Freddie Mercury and I've never seen a good one... yet!

Australian Pink Floyd are absolutely amazing saw them last week and they are really great I go to loads of bands and was worried about these but it was brilliant cant wait to go again
