I have been offered a job delivering parcels for two days a week which fits in well with my personal circumstances but I understand that one has to have courier insurance. Does anyone know what it is likely to cost please and would you know the name of any companies please?

Is this insurance for your car ? If you are using your car for your business, you need to inform your insurer.
You will need 'goods in transit' insurance relevant to the value of goods you will be delivering and, as Mikey says, general car insurance that covers you for business use.
