Will I Get A Bad Rental Reference?
1 Answers
I have been renting from the agency for 1year and half. I have always paid rent on time only time i was in arrears is when the direct debit stopped working which i sorted immediately. I have a letter stating i can have a cat. I week ago i was bunny sitting my friends bunny and i had an inspection (they did not ask for consent or send me a letter, they claimed they had sent me a email which they had not) i had a letter saying they thought i had 2 or more pets and if i did not get rid of them by a date i would be in breach of the agreement, sorted it out and showed them the signed letter from landlord about the cat and told them the bunny was a friends and was gone.
I previously had no hot water for 6 months and was electrocuted and sent to a&e because of faulty work done. I did not take them to court just requested compensation (which i revived) for missing work. I have always kept the property immaculate and never failed an inspection. I mentioned i was moving and felt unsafe at the property as sevral times people tried to break in and sometimes asked for prostitutes. She offered to help me somewhere else. Do you think i will get a decent referance? I am ooking to move and i am really worried thay might give me a bad ref.

Given the landlord said you can have a cat, and you sorted the problem by the date the agency gave you, you have not breached any agreement (based on your wording above). So I do not think you have anything to worry about. Much like most employment references, I would not think there would be much on the reference beyond said tenant lived at said address between x...
