I currently work a 3 shift pattern, nights, afternoons and days. I have been on the same team for 5 years and book my holidays and social events depending on my future shift. I.e. " on days that week, can book something for the evening" etc. I have just been informed that all the shifts are getting swapped around and I will be on a different team and so the weekends away, gigs, etc. Next year will have to be re looked at. Not a major problem, but, does my employer have to give me notice of these changes? Or can they just start the changes from the following week? TIA.

As long as the shift times do not alter and your hours worked remain the same then about 4 weeks notice seems reasonable.
Surely you will be given a new roster so you can plan ahead as before.

Yes, will be given a new roster , but I have already submitted holiday requests up until April next year, based on my current shifts. I go to a lot of gigs etc, so if a gig was on a night for example where I am on days, sorted, gig booked. But now it may be I am on afternoons, which will require a days holiday.
The notice they need to give could be 4 weeks or 3 months' depending on your contractual notice period. You will need to discuss it with your employer- if the relationship is good they should be understanding and flexible or may even accept that they need to give 3 moths notice
