I Was Well Impressed Today By A Primark Employee

Been out with a friend and visited the Metro centre , we were passing Primark where a young couple with a small baby were going to go in, both maskless, there was a male employer at the entrance who asked them If they had 'face coverings' they laughed and said "No, we are exempt'
Sorry but I need proof of this the employer said , he was met with an F-off and Away they went without getting in

It doesn't matter whether it is a so called public service. The rules are not his to make. I would have reported him to his employers.

Why? For asking them to use a face covering, you're supposed to when going in shops unless there's a good reason you can't

Yes you are but as in my link, staff have no right to demand proof of why someone can`t wear a mask.

Well I'm afraid that makes a mockery of the rules that says they are required and I certainly would never call the young man a 'jobsworth ' for doing it

Apparently no-one is supposed to ask for proof! They probably have one of those exemption certificates off t'internet.

All I know is that if I were exempt from wearing a mask,I would get a card to make life easier for me and anyone who has been asked to enquire.

It seems a little unfair or the employee, as there isn't any official proof. But politeness would be nice...

Pixie, I learnt today you can obtain a laniard with sunflowers on it online that is a signal you're exempt ,which I'm sure will be abused

I expect so... my youngest has asthma and autism and could probably be exempt... but it doesn't affect his breathing, so he hasn't bothered.
However, we have had- two now- texts from the GP to say they won't give exemption letters. There doesn't seem much point in asking people, tbh, if no "proof" is actually available.
