Does anyone know why flight attendants have to be 5ft 2in or over?

Certain tasks - including checking and shutting overhead luggage bins mean that a minimum height is required in order to reach them.

The same goes for weight restriction/ weight in proportion to height as it would be no use having a crew member who couldn't easily flit up and down the ailes etc or one who got stuck in the toilet.

My neice wanted to be a flight attendant but at only 3 foot six (well 4'11" then) she couldn't see over the seats. She is now a feisty flight check in supervisor at Gatportairwick.
