Trying to connect as usual to BT mail, Have the message 'This page isn't working, www.bt.com redirected you too many times. Try deleting cookies'. I have tried a dozen times, but can't do it; Google insists that I must change 55 passwords and i really don't want to do that. I think one problem may be that I need to delete a lot of old messages in Inbox, Send and Trash, but as I can't open the site there's no way I can see to do that. At the moment I'm using Mail (Windows 11) but I don't like it as much. Any advice on how to restore BT.com? I have tried switching the laptop off and on again, but no change. I can still get bt.com via my phone and tablet, it's just the laptop that's the problem. All other sites are OK.

If you are trying to access through a browser try a different browser.

What would you suggest? I always use Google Chrome because I'm familiar with it. I don't think I have any other browser installed. Would Microsoft Edge be an option?

Yes, try Edge.

Thank you, barry1010. That worked. So does that mean there's a problem with it just on Google Chrome? All pther sites I use are fine. In the meantime I'll get busy deleting months of stuff on BT mail and see if that helps. I don't want to ditch Chrome because I need Google images.

Did you clear the cache in Chrome? That might help

You can still set the search engine to Google in Edge

I don't understand why you were asked to change passwords to delete cookies. To delete cookies in Chrome, type Ctrl-Shift-Del.

Question Author

I tried, but Chrome wouldn't let me until I changed loads of passwords. I couldn't see a way to skip that stage.

Very strange. When I type Ctrl-Shift-Del in Chrome it just brings up the options of deleting history, cookies and cache. There's nothing about passwords.

Strange. Try virus and malware scans, just in case ?

I haven't tried just Control Shift Delete. I went through Clear Browsing history , last 4 weeks (to start with). when I clicked on  Delete data it insisted that I went to Go to Safety Check, where it found 57 reused passwords and 54 weak passwords. And there it stuck.

That should be a warning for your info, not a demand/obligation.

Perhaps it's a Windows 11 thing. I was using Windows 10.

If it was a Windows security thing it wouldn't matter what browser was used.

Have you cleared the cache in Chrome?

Question Author

Not yet. That felt a bit drastic.

I don't know what you expect to happen

BT is down full stop. I have no internet, phone, TV, nothing. Apparently they estimate it will be repaired by 7pm this evening.

Can you get BT email on your mobile, curlyfries?

I don't use BT email and I'm currently at a relative's house using their Virgin internet.
