I always thought being a skeleton propped up in pride of place gracing a science lab would he fun.  😂

Lol, a friend of ours did this. Funnily enough in life he was known for being shall we say exceptionally careful with money. He was very well liked locally and people were surprised and disappointed that there was going to be no funeral. So with pressure from his friends, the family organised a memorial get together at a local bar. I like to think leaving his body to medical science was Pip's way of having the last laugh!!!

for a wake, surely no one can surpass Oliver Reed's after he popped his clogs when they were filming Gladiator (one of my fav. films). The whole of his village, Churchtown - near Cork,  were invited along with friends and family and apparently he had left more than 30k punt with his local publican for a wee blow-out.

A word of warning, my uncle left his body to medical science when he died. Already agreed with his partner this is what he wanted. For reasons I cannot remember, they would not accept it and she had to arrange a funeral. He died of cancer if that makes a difference. Maybe one has to fill forms in prior to ones death.

One of the best non sequiturs I've seen for a long time.

Well of course you would - they would want to take the body quite fresh, not wait until some legalities were sorted.

Be careful. A couple of years ago I read a report of a body left to science being rejected and the family had to pay for storage and return.

The family may have to pay to transport the body to the medical school as well as costs if refused.

If you don't live near a medical school, forget it.

If you do opt for a funeral plan choose one that is protected by the FSCS. Make sure you don't die abroad
