I am interested in setting up a printing service as business. Has anyone ever done this before ? can anyone give me any ideas or suggestions ? also can anyone recommend any magazines/books regarding this setting up this type of business available in the market ? Thanks in advance :)

Take a franchise from Kall Kwick, Minuteman press or the like. These are established companies which operate in a very competative market. You effectively own the business but operate under the umbrella of a global brand, which affords certain advantages, particularly for new start ups.

I don't have the information to hand but there is a magazine available that lists franchise oportunities and has lots of advice etc about funding etc. In truth it's much easier doing it this way because you are able to draw on the experience of hundreds of successful people. Avoid costly mistakes and turn a profit sooner than you would as an independant - particularly if you don't have any xperience in this area.

Definitely go to Business Link - www.businesslink.gov.uk. They can help you plan the business and talk to you about things like budgeting, cashflow, sales and taxes etc. They also help you with business plans to make sure your business has the best chance of succeeding. You may find that your local Business Link offers seminars/events for pre-startup businesses, so you can meet like-minded people who understand your situation, and I believe there are grants available in certain situations.
