One of the problems you will face is getting a work permit. Antigua is not as difficult as some other islands but it can be a long and frustrating process. Entry level positions usually will not qualify for a work permit as Antiguan nationals obviously need work as well.
Do you have specialist skills, there are usually good jobs in senior hotel management. There is usually a need for IT people due to the large internet gaming sector here (where I worked until recently).
One other thing to keep in mind is that, in general, salaries here are far lower than in the UK, and we now pay income tax here (thanks to the new government for that one).
If you work in a store, bar, restaurant you will be lucky to make 2000 EC dollars a month. That is 400 pounds and I can tell you it would be very difficult to live on that income unless you live like the lower income earning Antiguans and that is a very basic way of life. Many of the smaller wooden homes here have no running water, so you walk with your jug to the communal tap to get your water for cooking and cleaning.
Im also looking for work but Ive been here for years and am a resident and I can tell you it is tight. However if you have skills that you could use to become self employed that could be a way to make an income but it can be a big adjustment doing business here.
