Can any one tell me the most sort after qualifaction in web design, what are employer's looking for ??????

Experience.

To be honest web/design development is easy on a technical level so any qualification is pointless. As an IT employer in the past and somebody who is working for a company looking for Web developers we don't look at qualifications for a second.

What you need is a portfolio of sites you have worked on to demonstrate how good you are.

couldn't agree more. A strong book is essential as it's your ability to demonstrate you know what you're doing, have a handle on teqhniques and can keep abreast of design trends. If you can demonstrate an ability to break new ground in design terms then you're definitely made!
