i left 2ndry school in scvotland in 1988. what were the type of exams i would have sat? as in gcse or whatever they would have been.

Scottish 'Standards'. (Officially known as the Standard Grade examinations of the Scottish Examining Board).

Nothing using the English language unless a friend is going to proofread your fake application form for you before you send it.
In 1988 you could have sat O (Ordinary) Grades, H Grades (Higher) and CSYS (Cetificate of Sixth Year Studies) all set by the SEB (Scottish Examination Board).

Nowadays there is a greater range of courses governed by the SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority).
