Do you need any specific qualifications to be an estate agent? I'm starting a new job in a couple of weeks as an office administrator in a commerical and business transfer agents. They want me to eventually get into the selling side of things (accompany viewings etc) Do you think i could progress and get into estate agent work?

You dont need any formal qualifications. My partner has been an estate agent for 10 years and had his own business for 4 years, there are many laws to adhere to ie: property misdescriptions act. But generally most training is on the job. It's a highly targeted job so you need good sales skills. I think there are courses you can do within estate agency but to become an estate agent generally employers look for good sales and people skills.

the role you are starting shortly will be a good way to learn these new skills and will give you the oppotunity to see if selling is what you want. good luck
My sister's only 20 and has just recently started a job in an estate agents. She had to do a week's training course with an exam at the end to qualify for the job, and the company set all that up. She's gone straight into viewings, selling etc.
