Hi i jus found this on the HM revenue and customs website it may help

What are the current rates of the national minimum wage?
There are three levels of minimum wage, and the rates from 1st October 2006 are:

A development rate of 4.45 per hour for workers aged 18-21 inclusive
3.30 per hour for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school age.

so it appear that when you are 18 the money you are earning should go up to 4.45
Just to add to LoopyLolli's answer:

Your cousin's rate of pay should rise to 4.45 per hour from the first pay period when she was 18 years old at the start of that period. So, her pay rate won't have gone up on her birthday. If she's paid weekly (from Monday to Friday), the new rate will take effect from the Monday after her birthday. If she's paid each calendar month, the new rate won't come in until 1st March.
