Can anybody explain holistic therapy qualifications/governing bodies to me?

Ok this may be a bit complicated - but I have a diplomas from IIHHT and IHBC both through VTCT. Now I've found another course I want to do through the SNHS who supposedly are accredited to the ICHM - is anybody following this?? LOL!! Well I'm certainly confused. Is there a main governing body of accreditation for holistic therapies or are they all linked? Does anybody know if the SNHS are legit? Who do I contact to find out please?? Many thanks to anybody who can follow/understand this!!

Hi! You did not specify what qualification you were looking to complete with the SNHS. I teach VTCT at a large FE provider, and have never heard of SNHS, though that does not mean that they are not worthy of accreditation! The best way of checking, is by seeking the advice of the therapy expert. eg, for Aromatherapy, the International federation of aromatherapists (IFA) or the International Council of Aromatherapists (AOC). They would tell you if the org syllabus was up to their standards, and therefore insurable for public liability. Some of the newer therapies can be more difficult to check, but can still go down on your record as CPD (continuous professional development), and maybe insurable with your provider. Unfortuneatly there are no government regulations for holistic therapies as of yet,and no general 'umbrella' for advice, therefore therapists and clients are left to the mercies of anyone hoping to make a fast few quid!
