It depends on the carrier and destination. I'll provide you with a couple of links: I will say, in essence, height in In proportion to weight, 20/20 (or close) vision, at least one additional language, clean police record and without a doubt, experience in front-line customer service. It can something as initial as McDonalds, but there needs to be that experience.

Just to clarify what I mean by destination...as I'm certain someone might not understand this...certain carriers have what is called Market Requirements. For example, there's a carrier that is currently recruiting for cabin crew, but the job will only cover flying between London and Singapore. The contract specifically states there will be no opportunity to fly anywhere else in the route system...nevertheless, they're recruiting and have specific requirements for the job.

It's a new launch economy version of Singapore Airlines. You will need to speak Mandarin, English and one other Asian language.

My friend applied to a well known airline company to be an air stewardess but she was turned down - turns out her 1st class masters degree for oxford university wasnt enough as she didnt have a GNVQ in Leisure and Tourism... Maybe thats the route you should look into!

Splash: That would not have been a specific criteria, unless the position she applied for was qualification specific. However, the qualifications for cabin crew with long-haul carriers has increased ten-fold over the years.

Having said that, there are a 'few' non European carriers who have an entirely different view on hiring and I would counsel any young girl considering working for them!

Long-haul cabin service is a career focused role. By the way, Europe is not considered long-haul if that helps better define the understanding of the carriers involved.
