I've just been told that you should get a statutory 25 per month extra for being a qualified first aider (first aid at work).

This is the first i've heard of this and i only get 9 per month from my firm (which is ok by me).

Any ideas if this is true...although i suspect it's unlikely to be.

The going rate is 5 per week as far as I know
Usually when a mate tells you something like that, it's completely correct and legally binding.
I never got any extra when I was a first aider.

If you read my question mamjet, i never mentioned a "mate"....so do one.

Thanks 4GS and postdog....i wasn't aware that it was and "obligatory" payment but more of a goodwill gesture by your firm.

I will raise the point at our next supervisors meeting.
I get 8 a month extra...before tax.
I believe it is still the case that any payment or allowance made to a qualified First Aider is not statutory but at the determination of the employer and any such agreement for this payment is therefore negotiable.
I got nothing at all when I was a first aider. It was one of the reasons I didn't renew my certificate. I dealt with a few horrible incidents and didn't get any thanks let along any financial thanks. A colleague of mine dealt with a particularly horrible incident and her clothes were SOAKED with blood and vomit. She obviously couldn't travel home on the train like that so the company eventually gave her some money to buy clothes during her lunch break, but they were not happy about it.
Cheers kempie

I was beginning to think that myself and my colleagues were missing missing out on some extra wages - we are all first aid qualified
