Photographers!!

I was wondering if there are any photographers on AB! My boyfriend is a photographer, and we live in North Wales. He currently gets paid �200 for being first shooter at a wedding and �80 for being second shooter, (that is just for taking the pics, not inlcuding editing) his bosses take the p*ss out of him as it is, do you think this pay is good or bad?!

I would appreciate your thoughts.

This seems to imply he is employed on a casual basis to do this.
Since the quality of the outcome is wholly dependent on his skills, why doesn't he cut out the middleman and start selling himself directly to the punters? Much, much more money this way.

The photographers he works for have a shop, where my boyfriend is supposedly employed to work part time to do portraits, editing etc..but mostly works full time, but he gets paid the set amount I stated when he does weddings. He has only been doing professional photography since January, so is working at this shop for the time being to gain experience.

OK so it is extra money. On that basis �80 for about three hours work sounds reasonable, but the better deal appears to be �200 for maybe six hours work? Just guessing - I'm not a professional photographer.
And he picks up experience and credibility to eventually be able to do his own thing.

The payment is a fixed payment, so the �80 would be the same whether the wedding was 3 or 6 hours work, same with the �200. Some weddings he will leave at 8 in the morning and not get back till 11 at night. Some people want the photographers there all day up until the first dance and then there is the travelling back. Experience is the thing that he needs, so you cant complain too much!
