Hi

How can I stop receiving unwanted emailed circulars from companies i have previously bought things from. I have Microsoft Outlook and all the unwanted mail in my Inbox is drving me mad. Please help.

Change your email address.

Seriously it is the only way!

The mails should all have a "unsubscribe" link or instructions at the bottom, but in reality not many do and if there is one it probably won't work!

You can setup some rules in outlook that will automaticly delete them, but they will still be being received you just won't see them.

Best bet is to setup 2 new email addresses, one to use when you have to enter a email address to buy or subscribe to something and when the spam level gets too high just ditch that email and the other for friends and family that you don't ever use online so it won't get so much spam.

Most reputable companies include an 'unsubscribe' link in their mails. So the first thing to try is clicking that link.

(NB: Never click an 'unsubscribe' link in random spam, from people who've you've never had any contact with. It only serves to show that your email address is valid and it will result in you getting lots more spam. Only use 'unsubscribe' when the mail comes from a reputable company, like Amazon).

Otherwise, using Mailwasher and a combination of 'confidential' and 'disposable' email addresses should help. See my post here for details:

hello. Twice in recent weeks I have ticked the 'unsubscribe box after receiving umpteen promotional emails from but still I receive them!
