person centred counselling

Are there any qualified counsellors using this site? Only I am qual to diploma level with an interest in working from a person centred approach? Yet I am finding it really difficult to find a suitable vacany. Any ideas please?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Hi Mentality, Not sure if this helps, I am also qualified to degree level in person centred counselling and find it difficult to get work as the above mentioned counselling approach as C.B.T seems to get all the funding, I am doing an M.A in psychological therapies but work as a mental health support worker the only way forward is to do your 450 hours client work to become BACP reg, and work from home or an office, or do CBT training i no that may grain against your philosophy of the client centred approach. It is all government focused they want to see results now thats why CBT have the lime light..... For now.
Thankyou for answering my question. I take you are bacp reg and done your hours then? Is it right that you can take into account the hours that you gained through doing the courses? I think I may have to take a look at their website again, and familarise myself with all protocol! I qual nearly 2 years now and am finding it a struggle. I have been lookin intermittently, but really in the last month or so I am wanting to find work in this line. Even breaking into the voluntary side is proving difficult. I have been searching the web for jobs that come under mental health but its such a minefield! I am also findin on the rare positions I find for a counselling vacancy, that they are only interested if you have accreditation. Thanks.
