big mistake.

I rang a friend at lunchtime to ask if he would like to come to a barbeque with his family on Sunday.He said that he would like that.

Just being conversational I asked him how his new job was going.and had he settled in.

Within the next 3or 4 minutes he began to tell me all about it, using expressions like------

1. a ball park figure
2. squaring the circle
3.head on meetings
4 how he could see where people were coming from,
and so on.
What a crashing bore he has become.
Think I've made a big mistake on this one.

Thanks for all your replies, have known him since we were both children, same school, same political crusades, but now he is completely an Establishment man .What shame,,where has the fire gone.
Still will see that he has plenty of wine, and there is always room on top of the barbie for him if things get desperate.

i find if anyone is being a bit boring that a stray piece of burning charcoal down the back of the pants usually livens them up a bit. they always start the dancing off.
