Hi I handed in my notice after being refused part time hours after maternity leave so now need to look for a part time job. Alot of places advertise directly on ther websites but I cant really think of anything apart from the usual big names, NHS, County Council, Tesco etc.

I was wondering what other people do for jobs to give me some inspiration.............

Do a job search on above site. Good luck
I live in Ireland - louise and I work from home dealing with airline revenue - I'm an airline prorator - hard to explain maybe googling would help but we are just based in Ireland and small section in US. There are lots of thing out there that you can do training courses for - good luck
The jobcentre themselves were holding mass recruitments a little while back, not sure if they still are. As they are Civil Service they are a fab company to work for when you have small peeps, thgey offer all sorts of working patterns
sorry - "they"
join dedicated websites for your occupation, if you are wanting a retail job try:

inretail.co.uk
retailchoice.com
totaljobs.com

you will get a daily jobs alert after you register (free) and fill in your search requirements. you can upload a CV and covering letter which means when you see a vacancy you just click once to apply and submit your cv.
i know you have mentioned this already but
www.jobsgopublic.co.uk
http://www.jobs.nhs.uk/
Also, don't underestimate the value of your local paper
Good websites to search are:

www.totaljobs.com
www.jobsite.co.uk
www.reed.co.uk
www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk

You can search for keywords and/or for jobs within your local area - something may pop up that appeals to you.

Good luck!
I worked part time in my local shop, not brilliant pay, but then there's no commuting either! When I'd been there a while I was offered a job in the Post Office, again part time, which suits me down to the ground.
