You could always lecture in Philosophy at a German University, or a Swiss or Austrian one!

Seriously though, do you have a careers adviser at school? If so, please talk to them about your subject choices and what you could do with them.

Languages are always useful, and these days proficiency beyond A Level in any European language will help you get a better job.

Philosophy has more unemployed graduates than acting does!!! It is the most highly unemployed subject area. Unless you lecture in it, there is not much call for philosophers!! You could use German by being a translator, but I am sure there must be lots of interesting jobs that use German. Ask your careers teacher or have a look online.
There are a number of careers in which it is quite usual to have originally done an unrelated degree.  I knew someone who, after a German and Philosphy degree, did a CPE and became a solicitor.  You could probably go into accountancy too.  I have met accountants who originally did arts degrees.  You could even do an MA in Information Management and become a librarian or information scientist.  I don't know, of couse, whether any of the above appeal to you!  Have you heard of a book entitled "What colour is your parachute"?  It has tests you can do to find out where your interests lie.
Many graduate vacancies are advertised as "Degree : Any" so unless you're aiming to do something really specific (like becoming a doctor) then I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Having said that, Philosophy might cause some people to revise their job adverts to "Any, within reason. Philosophy is a load of old pants"

Another thing to tconsider is to find some things that show that you have comparable real life experience that would benefit you in your job such as organising the uni's German Society.
