What will happen tomorrow?

I am 2 months into a 3 month probation at work. I have been late for a few meetings - not my fault due to traffic crashing on the motorway (I was almost involved in them). I also missed a probation related chat as I had left the phone upstairs and could not reach it in time (I am disabled and it takes ages to get upstairs). I always set off in plenty of time and always phone if I am going to be late.
On Monday I had the worst time ever - got to a place but couldn't find it - asked a taxi driver, policeman, postman and what even turned out to be the neighbours but no-one knew where the damn place was. The people I was supposed to meet didn't know much either - like that there was a post office and a church at the top of the road. In the end they came and found me, but I was really late.
Now I have got a letter (emailed) saying that I have to meet my boss (by phone) to discuss my "performance". It says that I am "entitled to bring a union rep or colleague with me".
What I need to know is - am I going to get sacked or just told to improve? I love the job and have not been late on purpose. I am going to get a new sat nav system that knows local roads better and even go the night before so I don't get lost. Will I be sacked or just given an official warning?

sorry can't really say but would think they have to give you a warning. Not sure what job you do but have already on AB seen someone saying today they could not get home from somewhere cause did not have a sat nav. Keep hearing they can be a bit unreliable that perhaps worthwhile you investing in a good old A to Z and doing a bit of research before heading to somewhere - could you perhaps even phone the place in advance to find out exactly where you should be going? Just giving a couple of suggestions that may help your boss feel you are really going to try harder. Hopefully they will be sympathetic to the situations you have found yourself in but also difficult for those trying to run a business. Good luck.
