how does a person get a job as a Cabinet Minister?

Basically first they have to get elected as an MP. Then their party has to be the majority party which forms the Government. Then the MP has to impress the Prime Minister enough for him/her to be selected as a minister within the PM's cabinet.

There are no technical qualifications but it is usual for MP's to have served for a considerable period before they are considered experienced enough.

And if your good sense says that there are no WMDs in Iraq you keep schtum, tell the world that Bush is the bees knees do a lot of brown nosing and you will become the foreign secretary if Brown does not want it.
