Had been there 2 and a half years -could do the job even though there was some nasty aspects to it but I was fed up being the 'whipping girl' when things werent going right with the Managers.
Miss the kids :( They were a joy.
Gave it my best shot -took job on to help my daughter out who was struggling financially and emotionally-but sometimes enough isnt just enough:(
I feel ive let my daughter down now-not only her but myself and others but theres only so much I could take....
Thing is when the Boss called me I couldnt say it was the Manager who prompted it -lets face it trained staff are harder to come by so I said nothing - now i feel I should have spoken up as she will just do the same to someone else...
Its tough isnt it -lose/lose situation.....
Its not right is it when Managers know they can get away with it -their word etc etc....

Surely now you've left you can say what you want?
If your manager made things that bad speak to citizens advice you may have case for constructive dismissal

I can now that ive only just yesterday got a cheque to cover wages which had been due to me for 7wks so is there any point now?.
Stirring up a hornets nest for no gain.....almost constructive dismissal if i had a contract which I didnt.
is it a large co or small?

ubasses -similar train of thought.P/T job fitting in around school holidays-no contract.
Got that T-shirt Dris! Rise above it - I did. x
You could write a letter in to HR and the line manager.... I had very large problems with my management team previously, namely they were rubbish and I'm not... I was very vocal about it and when I handed in my resignation letter I stated that I was very fond of my job and my team but I could not continue to work under the current management and gave several examples in which they had totally cocked up... All examples I'd previously vocalised. It's still the same crap down there now but other people are now 'pulling a China Doll (well my real name)' as a well informed tantrum is now called and they're not standing for it... It's not much but I'm glad I did it. Their systems are ridiculous and one of my other friends pulled them to task via HR over the christmas period over a shocking email they sent out that they thought they would just get away with without anyone questioning.

Sometimes a little stirring is worth it... Probably won't change much but it wil make their lives harder! :c) (Weird thing is, these managers still bl00dy speak to me when I see them... Massochists!)
Say something Dris. There are plenty of 'trained staff' looking for employment in this current climate.
How well did you get on with the main boss? If you're worried about future employees it might be worth having an informal word with the heid bummer and putting your side across - at least that way the manager might be watched more closely and not get away with it again.

Fluff -small independant 'snooty Italian based school of teaching' Nursery School..in owners own very large home.

Cheers Horseshoes -I think i shall have to and thanks x

Not used to this petty nonsense coming from a lengthy career which had a Masters in it (BT) ....
my response was going to be write to hr and complain but i don;t think you'd get much joy!

oops so sorry -I didnt see you CD ummm nor Karen I wasnt ignoring you.
Think you all have collectively hit the nail on the head -I still have to speak to the Boss woman (couldnt bring myself to at the time as her sister had died at age of 53 from pancreatic cancer just 5days previously -was expected but nonetheless....-wasnt appropriate timing).
I am concerned about future references etc.I did phone to say ii wouldnt be in to the staff and popped a letter in the post to the owner. The said Manager strangely came round to my house (my hairdresser was there-witness lol) less than a week later to see if I was OK-she was worried blah de blah -I barely recognised her voice -boy did she know I could have at least made the boss aware of her shortcomings if nothing else.Think I will -nothing to lose really.Least my integrity would be intact.
BTW got on brilliantly with the boss and her family -it was a lovely environment but the manager just HAD to come back from matty leave and re-assert herself.........
From what I've seen of your post on here Dirs it's not like you to bite your tongue, I'm sure you'll know how to handle it now, that's if your ever in that situation again, good luck!

send a letter detailing all you have to say...soon

a number of times i have had terible treatment and written letters but never ended up sending them - but regret it...and if it wouldnt be weird to still send them i would...
the situations infuriated me and it still annoys me at time that i never got to tell the true story or give them a few home truths etc...

on the ones i did send , i was very glad i sent them

be cautious not to rant or be abusive though...keep it calm professional but firm

(I am freelance btw, which is why there are many crap emplyers)
