Roughly how long does it take for a straightforward will to go through probate. There is no spouse involved.

Depends who is doing the probate.

I did my mum's and it took about 5 or 6 weeks - and I wasn't really rushing anything.

Let a Solicitor near it and it will take 3 or 4 ........ months.

If it is straightforward you will need form PA1 and form for the return of assets and debts, the process usually takes 3/5 weeks. Difficulties, if they arise, can extend this time greatly.

If the Executor isn't a solicitor, and works efficiently, it should only take a few weeks. (It did when I sought probate for my father's will).

More commonly it takes a few months. Let a solicitor near to the job and expect to wait for the better part of a year!

As Chris says, getting on for a year would not be unusual - to apply, get and pay out

I believe the Probate Office take about 3 weeks once they have the forms if that was the actual question
