Flybe Luggage Charges
15 Answers
Maybe I have been lucky with the airlines that I have flown with before, but I have never had to pay to bring small hold-all onto the plane. Flybe wants £40.00 for a return flight from Southampton to Bergerac on top of the £99.00 flight cost.
I know the answer already, which is find another airline, but am I wrong in being miffed!!

You can also have a smaller additional bag (for under-seat storage), such as a handbag, as long as the combined weight of the two bags doesn't exceed 10kg.

That's basically the same as many other airlines, Ryanair, for example, has basically the same rule except that the larger bag can be 55 x 40 x 20cm (and they impose specific dimension limits on the smaller bag):

BA's size restriction for the larger bag is slightly more generous (at 56 x 45 x 25cm) but not that much. Jet2 also has the same size limit.
FlyBe is the only operator to Bergerac from Southampton. The only other airlines flying from the UK to Bergerac are BA (from London City, starting next May), Jet2 (from Leeds/Bradford, seasonally) and Ryanair (from Stansted, with additional seasonal services from Bristol, East Midlands and Liverpool).

I have booked with Flybe for next year and the baggage allowance is as others have said, you only pay for hold baggage that's £40 for a bag weighing up to 20kg. Hand baggage is up to 10kg and that is free but it has to be within the size limits. Certain ticket prices also include the price of 1 or 2 bags.
Since we can't see your 'pictures' (or the page that they're on) it's hard for us to be sure exactly what you're referring to, JK. But as Theshedman has mentioned that £40 is the charge for hold baggage (rather than for cabin baggage), I strongly suspect that you must be looking at something that refers to 'checked' baggage.
Thanks to all and sorry that I took so long to get back to you all.
Got distracted with a holiday in Genoa, one in Tarragona and one in Sorrento.
This sounds a bit like showing off, but for years I couldn't have holidays because of personal circumstances so going a bit wild now.
Will investigate the question again, properly.
Again thanks.
