No title deeds for new property
My partner and I are in the process of purchasing our first home together. We have had our offer accepted and mortgage in place, however we have a problem regarding the deeds.
The house is part of a newly renovanted row of terraced houses, with our house been one of three which was converted from one large original house. The occupant passed away in hospital with no known relatives. He left medical bills which the sale of the house and land covered ( i can only presume this!).
The council sold the original house and land to a property developer who as i say converted the original house in 3 and built a further 5 houses on the land.
It has now come to light that there are no deeds for our property as it would appear that the previous occupant lost the original deeds.
We are now completely puzzled as what to do, we want the house but believe that we run the risk of someone turning up in the future with the deeds and also having trouble selling the house!
Please help!
