i am not married and never was to the father of my son he no longer lives with us he is on my sons birth certificate i want to know the legal implication of this as i have heard he has to apply for parental rights in the courts and that until then all such decisions regarding my son are my responsibility not his and he cannot interfere until he has recieved this court notification of parental responsibility

When was the child born and is the father's name on his birth certificate?

If the child was born after December 1st 2003 and father is named on the birth certificate he has automatic parental responsibility.
