what a shame that the sports answerbank is going to be mainly used by silly little private messages with people swapping knitting patterns and gossiping/curtain twitching.

How long will it be before the pub and chat section is overrun with non sporting discussions.

Frankly Ed i think you are making the SAB even worse than it was before!!

What do you care how we use the Private Message facility? Does it affect how you use the site?

There was a suggestion that PM might be similarly implemented in main AB if successful enough in SAB.

I think PMs bring a special something to QA sites, so hopefully that will happen, and your gloom will be soon be lifted.

Just to sidetrack from the main issue a second....

Has anyone else noticed you can't swear on the PM's? All i tried to add was the word blood, with a Y on the end, and I got a very authoritarian red banner telling me off.....lol

Of course, you are correct jimmy rimmer.

If we decided to post in another section because we were unhappy with SAB, say in something like Body & Soul, then there would be an outcry. The sports posts would all get reported and the Ed would shift them to SAB pronto.

Now the ED is actively encouraging ABers to mis post in the Sports section.

The fact that they have done this is an admission that the once virbrant Sports Section is now underused.

i dont see how it changes a thing in there. private messaging doesnt mean there will be lots of idle chit chat in any of the sports topics. In fact it will go a long way to preventing that i would have thought .
