I parked on a piece of kerb behind yellow lines. The lines being on the street. The kerb was an access area to another road for pedestrians usage, which I did not block. There was no additional signage re parking at this location, just the yellow lines. I was a bout 4 feet behind them. Lo and behold I got a 30 ticket. Is this right?

You may have been given a ticket for parking on the kerb/pavement, thereby causing an obstruction to pedestrians. Your ticket should tell you if this is the case.
