I am almost 20 weeks pregnant and my job is field based. I do a lot of travelling (by car). I was under the impression that my employer should do some sort of health and safety assessment that I am not undertaking any tasks that I shouldnt be. Is this right? Should they have done it by now? I informed them of my pregnancy at 8 weeks. Also, if I was to take 9 months paid maternity leave then leave the company, am I liable to pay them anything back? Many thanks in advance.
hi lollyone. how do you know they havnt assessed the risks already? what things do you think should be changed for you?
usually its to allow regular breaks for those on feet or sitting all day. change fuld you choose not to returnrom night shifts, avoidence of chemicals and machinery dangerous to you or baby etc etc.
as for the maternity pay, as long as you are not being paid over and above the government set figures then you wont have to pay any back should you choose not to return
middle bit should read
"usually its to allow regular breaks for those on feet or sitting all day. change from night shifts, avoidence of chemicals and machinery dangerous to you or baby etc etc. "
the risk assessment should be done a soon as you officially tell HR that you are pregnant. they would normally do it with you. Travelling, as far as i know is not a risk in pregnancy though
Thank you for your answers.
Redcrx, I dont think anything should be changed for me, I just didnt know if it was a formality thats all. My colleague was assessed quite early on.
Thanks again.
