Money owed by ex

Hello, if an ex partner owes you money and said they will pay you back but now wont respond to your corespondences (on if they have the money and when they will send it). what else can you do?

Im at my wits end, I just want to know when I will recieve my property which he is with holding. and I dont know when I will get it.

So has he actually got your property or does he owe you money? If its money, do you havge any proof that he owes it?

he has some of my property but Im not bothered with that.
I have emails in which he said he would pay me back the money.

I gave him a final 2 weeks notice but he didnt hand over the money its been 6months now. Also he destroyed something of mine that i did ask for back, sentimental value pictures etc. that I cant replace with an estimated cost of �25, which would be criminal damage (as he accussed me of this when i cut up some of his shirts he gave to me but replaced them).
