A friend of mine recently spilt with her partner. My firends partner never worked during thier relationship and my friend bought a house just under six months ago and placed her partners name on the mortgage.
Is her partner entitled to any money back if they hadn't paid anything to start with?

Is the partner's name on the registered title? I assume it must be to be a mortgagee. If so, then the partner is just as much an owner as your friend and has equal entitlements Is there any equity in the property?
'Placing someone's name' on the mortage or land registry records is in most cases a synonym for gifting them half the property.

So yes, on the face of it they are entitled - indeed already own - half the proceeds.
