North West news this morning, the lakes, the rescue services are expecting many call out over the Xmas period with people going onto the hill!s / mountains ill equiped, should these people be charged a cost for their rescue?
Morning all !... I would agree it is irresponsible to go climbing in this weather and expect others to put their lives at risk to rescue them...I think Glencoe rescue do charge when they feel they have been called by time wasters and blatant idiocy..
I haven't time, but could write a book on this subject. No they should not charge. Would you expect to pay for an ambulance if by your own stupidity, you were knocked down crossing a road? Should you expect to pay for treatment of a cancer caused by smoking?
As these berks are being rescued by unpaid volunteers......they ought to be forced to pay *if* the overweening reasons for their rescue are being ill-prepared and in possession of defective reasoning....
They should, but you should look up photos of Alfred Wainwright, he rarely looked at though he was going as far as the pub, let alone get up Helvellyn His guides are still the best for walking in the Lake District
I do not expect to get knocked down at the top of a mountain by a car Tenrec, as regards the self harm with smoking " Yes" & I was a smoker at one time.
