As per previous posts on here, I was arrested Saturday night. I was charged with been drunk and disorderly and assaulting 2 police officers. I kicked one and spat at another, I don't need any condemnation here, I feel bad enough as it is and apologised in my police interview. And I find spitting disgusting, I really am ashamed about that. At the time I thought I was been attacked.
Just want to know the likely outcome. I have previous for assaulting the police and previous for threatening them with a knife (which I didn't do but got convicted of anyway).

Minty, I had a solicitor present during my interview but just said after that he would see me in court on the 29th. Have rang law firm to get further info but they havnt got back to me yet. (bit like the mental health services never do...)
you really need to meet before court to discuss your options nailit ..on the day is really not good... any idea how you will plead ?
Absolutely agree with MM- you need to either see your brief or at least talk to them on the phon before then x

Guilty, its recorded on bodycam. Theres a bit more to it than Ive posted on here, but that's the basics of what ive been charged with.
presumably you will submit plea then case suspended for background reports etc... when you may or may not be remanded ? important for proper discussion in order to present the best possible mitigation...

Nailit, I cant give you the outcome but you can read some further info here:- https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/offences/item/assault-on-a-police-constable-in-execution-of-his-duty/

Hopefully NJ will be over to give you some ideas, but even with NJ's vast experience it is impossible to tell without full knowledge of the facts and your previous.

Against you is the fact that you have previous - that is aggravating, seriously so. Also the fact that you were in drink. For you is an early guilty plea, so you should get your full third off - particularly given your admissions in interview.
the legal beagles can advise nailit.. please get the best mitigation together in advance...remain focused...
Unfortunately, the chances of Nailit seeing his defence team before 29th are relatively slim. The legal aid rates are so tight now, that conferences with his solicitor before a sentencing hearing are as rare as hen's teeth. He can ask, but it is unlikely.

I would suggest that you take steps between now and then to address your relationship with alcohol by doing some self help. Showing remorse, showing you are doing something and showing you want to turn his life around will all go in his favour.

I would also suggest you keep a log of all you have done in trying to get help.
Yes please don't automatically think the worst.

I find this highly embarressing to discuss, even on an anonymous forum but here goes.
The police were called because I was on the wrong side of the railings on a bridge. It was reported that I was threatening to jump. The police turned up and got me back over. I don't know what was going on in my mind at the time. I remember an ambulance been present. In my police interview it was said that the ambulance staff refused to take me because of my drunkenness. Next thing I remember is having a spit bag on my head and been taken to the custody suite. Ive got a memory of feeling that I was been attacked but it was the police restraining me. That is why I was kicking out. Not that any magistrate would believe me!

// Showing remorse, showing you are doing something and showing you want to turn his life around will all go in his favour//

Or it would do if anybody actually bothered to return calls etc.
I havnt felt well for some time, Tried getting in contact with mental health team but no return calls. Saw mental health team worker in the cells, was told that I would receive a call from them. Didn't happen. Saw GP practice nurse yesterday who spoke on the phone with mental health team, was told I would receive a call in the hour. Didn't happen.
Nailit, I know you feel like you are banging your head on a brick wall. Phone them again and say that you were promised a call. Then again. This is what I mean by working at it. I know it is disheartening, but you gotta keep plugging away.

Have you found a local addiction group/AA?
as Barmaid says.. write everything down you remember then start addressing the salient points... identify all the weak points and take some steps for remedial action even if just phone calls ..log what positive steps you are taking to demonstrate willing to take responsibility to move on..

ie potential suicidal thoughts... speak to/ attend a samaratin centre

booze ..make some kind of contact with AA /GP

Mental health.. keep details of all attempts to get help..contact GP nurse again..

personal character references... can you get something together from someone that knows you and can give a statement

anything and every step you take write down ...

Got an appointment BM with addaction on the 24th of this month. But in court 5 days later!
that is still a huge positive step nailit...
it is important to remain focused 'till then.. try not to jump off the deep end again...difficult as I know how stressed you are.. easy to chuck in the towel with a sod that attitude... but please don't ..we all want a positive outcome for you...
Right well that is positive.

The more you do, the better you will feel, even if you dont get anywhere. If these people dont call back when they said they would, phone them again. It's no good saying "I saw someone, they promised to call, but nothing". You brief will need to be able to say "He has tried extremely hard to get help. At every knock back and every failed promise he has taken matters into his own hands to ensure he gets the help. He has worked tirelessly since his arrest so now he has the following in place x, y z........"
samaritan ^^
